Eragon by Christopher Paolini

One boy... One dragon... A world of adventure.

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.
Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands.

  1. I have heard lots of praise for this book. Currently I am only about 50 pages in but am really enjoying it so far. It was a little bit difficult for me to get into the book at first because a lot of events happen right away and lots of characters are introduced. Now I don't want to put it down. If you like fantasy books I would suggest this one because it feels like it is set in a time period long ago and has lot's of awesome creatures.

  2. Sounds like a great start! I look forward to hearing more as you get father in.

What in the book has you so enthralled now? Do you feel like you know the characters well because of all the information given in the beginning?

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. It was more that in the beginning there was a lot of excitement right away with names being thrown in that was a bit confusing. But now that I am a little further into the book I feel like I am starting to know the characters more.

  5. One of my favorite characters so far is the storyteller Brom because he is just so mysterious. Like he knows so much more then he let's on. Wow! Now I definitely think I want to read on. Yes, I think I will continue to read the series because I have enjoyed it so far and have always liked this type of genre. And I have heard the author just continues to get better with each book.

  7. I found all the names to be really confusing too, but I found it to get easier as the books went because it drops a lot of characters most of the time.
