Linger (Wolves of Mercy Falls, Book 2) by Maggie Stiefvater

the longing.
Once Grace and Sam have found each other, they know they must fight to stay together. For Sam, this means a reckoning with his werewolf past. For Grace, it means facing a future that is less and less certain.

the loss.
Into their world comes a new wolf named Cole, whose past is full of hurt and danger. He is wrestling with his own demons, embracing the life of a wolf while denying the ties of a human.

the linger.
For Grace, Sam, and Cole, life is a constant struggle between two forces--wolf and human--with love baring its two sides as well. It is harrowing and euphoric, freeing and entrapping, enticing and alarming. As their world falls apart, love is what lingers. But will it be enough?

  1. Yes, this is a sequel. I read the first book awhile back, and would re-read it if i had it on hand.. but I don't. I have tried to read this book before, it was pretty good the plot was more interesting and drew me right in from page one. Last time I read it however there was a better book that drew my attention better. I really enjoy this book and how the plot is very easy to follow but it is not as predictable as some books. Though I am only a few pages into the book, I think i might be able to finish it this time. haha.

    1. Cole is like Jacob in twilight. He is the 'new' wolf. He was bitten along with two other people. His friend/bandmate Victor being one of them. He lives with his scientist father. He is still being introduced into this book and who he is, is very vauge from what I have read in the book, I looked it up on the internet and that is what I found. xP Its early in the story to have figured this character out fully yet.

  3. One thing that sticks out to me about this book is that you don't know how something is going to turn out untill you have gotten 50 pages from where the conflict happened. It keeps you thinking and wondering. I am all for being drawn into the plot from page one, or i wont be able to read until the book is interesting.

  4. I am pretty sure I just met Cole in this book. Or at least the characters that I previously had known just met him. They described him as a 'jock' looking person. The scene was really in depth where he got integrated into the other characters lives and not just another story line to follow. Since he is a 'newborn' wolf, his transformations are very off. When it gets cold, they usually change to wolf, and back to human when it gets warmer. However, being a newbie, the changing is unpredictable and spontaneous. **spoiler** They find him laying in a house in pain after a transformation. Sam finds him here. (don't worry, it is the house where the whole pack is supposed to live when they are in between transformations.)

  5. A lot of things have been relieved about a few of the characters in this book, and you can certainly see the characters changing as you keep reading on.

I have found out that Cole's father is a 'mad scientist' and Cole doesn't want to be his father, as he feels that he will never be able to live up to such greatness as being a 'mad scientist'. He does come off as a 'bad boy' but under that covering I see a person that is more sensitive than he really wants people to think.

I really enjoy reading about the character of Cole, because there is always more information to find out about him as you read on in the book. I really like his personality as it is interesting and different from all of the other characters in the book. It it even different from any of my friends personalities, which is probably why I love this character so much.

  6. I just finished this book, and all I can say now is that I am wowed. Totally blew my mind. Right now I don't know how I feel about it exactly. If it was the last book in the series, I would be totally mad... but I know that there is another book.

From the last time I read, there was a HUGE change in the character of Cole. He went from being a dry empty character who had no feeling but for himself to someone who felt something for someone else in the end.

All in all, I LOVED this book, I really liked how I noticed the characters changing throughout the book. So cant wait for the next book :D
