Narrative of the life of FREDERICK DOUGLASS

Former slave, impassioned abolitionist, brilliant writer, newspaper editor and eloquent orator whose speeches fired the abolitionist cause, Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) led an astounding life. Physical abuse, deprivation and tragedy plagued his early years, yet through sheer force of character he was able to overcome these obstacles to become a leading spokesman for his people.

  3. I think that this book was made to get the people who had no opinion on slavery to not support or like slavery. I think that it also could open the eyes of people who all ready are antislavery to give them a fighting point and more information for them to speak about in the public speakings. It also shows the hard times that the people had to go through.
