The Little Book of Scientific Principles, Theories, & Things by Surendra Verma

A refreshing walk through science...

The Little Book of Scientific Principles, Theories, & Things explains 175 laws, principles, equations, theories and things that form the foundations of science. It features all the great names in science, including Pythagoras, Galileo, Newton, Darwin, and Einstein, as well as more recent contributors such as Rachel Carson, James Lovelock, and Stephen Hawking.

This little book presents serious science simply, answering questions like:
  • What is the Pythagorean Theorem?
  • What is the difference between circadian rhythms and the popular concept of biorhythms?
  • What is Hawking's Black Hole Theory?
  • Who developed the World Wide Web?

  1. This book has a cool layout. Each law has one to two pages and gives a summary of each. When and where they came from is also given on the top corner of each. Making it a really easy book to navigate through. So far I have read a few out of order and they have been good. I plan to read it all the way through.

  5. I think what I like most is the way it is laid out. I like how if I just want a quick answer or information about a theory I can find it easily and learn it quickly in the book. Then if I want to know more I can look it up. I don't think I necessarily have a favorite law. There are some I have never heard of. A couple I like are the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and Antimatter.
