Animals: How to Draw Them by Hugh Laidman

This is an older instructional book on how to draw animals. It gives pages of introduction and plenty of description for each illustration. It shows several animals skeletal systems, how to use shapes to draw figures, and filling in the details. This is highly recommended for anyone who wishes to improve their sketching skills.

  1. I have been reading several drawing books lately as I strive to improve my artistic skills. This book is a great tool an artist can use for it has helpful descriptions and in-depth steps.

Although this book may not help people create realistic drawings if their sketching skills are not strong, I still recommend looking into this book for it helps with figuring out the general direction an artist must go to create their own artistic style.

The layout is also fantastic. Quick, easy to follow along with with the text in corresponding areas.

  2. The descriptions in this book have helped me to draw an elephant. I have always had a hard time doing so, especially by just looking at a picture and trying to recreate it, but the old book really knows how to make things understandable.
