VT Drivers Manual

I was wondering if I could start a blog on the Vt Drivers Handbook. This especially apply to people that are getting ready to take their permit test. My thought was everyone can post on here things they are having trouble remembering or things that are unclear to them. Of course it will only work right if people actually participate and read the book.

  1. From my experience driving so far and from reading the book the most confusing thing to me was right-of-way. Understanding which vehicle goes first and understanding when to go and when not to was a bit confusing. I now understand but it does take some practice on the road to get used to it. I also have found making slow and careful turns is best.

  2. He was asking if he could, I don't think he was looking for post's until he got "the OK".

  3. Yes, the whole who gets to go first deal depends on whether the other drivers are aware enough to remember tat from when they got their permit. If two people have to turn left, who ever got there first gets to go first.

  4. When I started reading the manual I though is all this information going to be on a twenty question test. Then I saw the Vermont learners Permit section. What I did to remember the Information is I read the whole book then I looked online for a free test.

  5. Stephen,
Did you find the online tests helpful? What did you think was more helpful the book, or online tests.

  6. The person that goes first is usually the first one to get there...but other than that its the person on your left at a 4 way intersection that gets to go.

  7. Well if two people are turning left, whoever arrives there first gets to go. If there is two people at the intersections and one is turning left and the other is going straight, the person going straight gets to go, even if the person turning left gets there first.

  8. I know you were typing to Stephen but I was going to comment on what you said to him. I found that if you do that online tests and also study from the book you will do best! The online tests are very helpful and you learn a lot more than what the book teaches you but you also need to know the stuff that's in the book.

  9. Maybe a good study method would be to read the book, then go online and test your knowledge there. Anything you get wrong you can restudy. Keep doing this till you get 100.

  10. Yes Hunter that is correct. I was talking about all four intersections are being used. So say when everyone pulls up...The person to the left is the one you are supposed to give the right of way too.

  11. I personally found the online tests very helpful. If I had not taken those tests I don't think I would have passed without taking them. If you are going for your permit soon I suggest taking those and get at least 90% or better on them before taking your permit test.

  12. Yes definitely do the online tests for sure. I think I read the book twice and did the online tests. The only questions I got wrong/was unsure of were more mechanical type questions. I don't remember reading about those things in the book.

  13. Does anyone have some good links for online tests?

  14. Go to the Vermont DMV site online and there should be a link that takes you to a preparation test.

  15. Just try typing in free online permit practice tests.

  16. I tried that out but the way it is setup is not helpful to me in any way. I'm not trying to discourage others from it, but it did not work for me.
