The Giver by Lois Lowry

Jonas's world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the community.
When Jonas turns twelve he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now it's time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

  1. This was a great book. A lot like the book Anthem. The ending was the only thing I was not sure about. It kind of left you to infer what happens.

  2. How would you compare the books "Anthem" and "The giver". How are they different? I am assuming that the society is very similar, but what else is similar, what else is different?

  3. This book is better than all the other books I read. The author Lois Lowry questions how people live and do in the real world.

  5. Who suggested this book to you I know that we read this as a school? Were you surprised to find out what they do to the people that they "release"? What did you think of the ending?

  7. I would compare the societies by the way the government is in charge of everything and the people completely trust them. In this book the government is a little more relaxed in a way because you can think, make some decisions, and interact with each other. Then both of the main character's in the books start to question the system.

    ***Spoiler Alert***
For the ending there are like three possible endings I thought of. Either he died,it was a dream, or he actually made it.

  8. I was a bit surprised about how they went about release especially for the little ones. I did not really like the ending compared to the rest of the book. It kind of dragged on and then just suddenly ended. I am curious what happened to everyone else after he left. What did you guys think of the ending? Do you know if this author has written any other books?
