Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden

This novel takes place in WWI and focuses on three Cree Indians, even though only two of them narrate. Xavier and Elijah, although exposed to the nuns and their teaching methods, know the ways of the bush. Due to this, when they sign up to fight alongside the Canadians in France, they become great assets to their Battalion. They face not only the Germans and the Huns as their enemies, but the weather, each other, and their inner conflicts as well. Can they triumph?

  1. Keagan, I feel you would enjoy this. This book has beautiful imagery and descriptions, and the character development is phenomenal. The way it is written allows the reader to distinguish important details about the war, and the plot line itself. Hearing this book from the point of view from an "Indian" (as the book calls them)who was only faintly influenced by the Anglo is an impressive and thrilling feat.

  2. Sounds like a very interesting story. If I find it anywhere I will try to remember to pick it up.
