    1. I'm not sure if it's a mystery book yet. I think the sailor is just mysterious, not the book. I'm only 50 pages in, the font is big and there are pictures. The author is simply talking about how angry one of the characters is because their cousin is marrying the main character (he's mad because he wants to marry her, not she marrying someone else).

  3. I'm not very far into the book yet but it's kind of bland... The detail is alright, the story is kind of boring, but I'm hoping it will get better. It's got pictures in it, so, I'm assuming that it's a kids book. That would explain why it's dull.

I really liked The Man in the Iron mask, so I thought I would try this because someone recommended this to me. I honestly hope that the ending of this book isn't as depressing as the ending of The Man in the Iron Mask. The Man in the Iron Mask was short and depressing.

    1. The wedding was different enough, I guess. It's getting depressing though just like The Man in the Iron Mask...

  5. Yay, people being framed and sent off to a really big prison! The main character got sent off to prison, stayed there for a while, met someone when he tried to escape, that new friend dies, he gets thrown into an ocean, swims away. I haven't gone past the swimming away part yet.

The book has gotten a little bit more interesting since the main character got sent of to prison...but not much. I will continue reading since I'm almost half-way through and I kind of want to know what happens to the main character. If he escapes successfully or if he dies in the ice cold water.

  6. Do you have any feelings for what is motivating this character to do all this crazy stuff like escaping prison, swimming in ice cold water, etc.?

  7. I finished the book and the ending wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was a happy but still sad ending, which I didn't like. One of Edmond's friends that he met while escaping jail left Edmond's side and went to work on a smugglers ship.

It was a good story but still slightly boring. Things got more interesting when the main character escaped and was in the city (Paris or something, I don't remember) taking his revenge on the people who had sent him to jail in the first place.

  9. What part of the story was boring? The content, the writing style, the characters? How do you think the author could have made the story more interesting?
