City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

  1. This like a slightly quirky, but interesting, book. How do you like it?

  2. This book has a bit more romance than i usually like to read, but it is still mainly about killing demon, and not the supernatural romance it is marketed as.

  3. Does the story have any kind of relation to the movie, if you've seen the movie. Does the actual book have anything besides the romance in common, like the actual story?

  4. From what I've heard the movie follows the plot of the book, only the main character is worthless in the movie. And the movie didn't follow the plot well.

  5. Yeah the female character is not as well implied as she sounds in the story, where as the male character of course is way more important in the story of the movie than the girl which is i think the real star of the book.

  6. The main plot follows the girl and the boy equally, though it is told more from the girls point of view. They also removed the characters being brother and sister, which is an important plot point in other books.
