The sum of all fears by Tom Clancy

Peace may finally be at hand in the Middle Eastas Deputy Director of the CIA Jack Ryan lays the groundwork for a peace plan that could end centuries of conflict. But ruthless terrorists have a final, desperate card to play: they have their hands on a nuclear weapon and have placed it on American soil in the midst of an escalation in tension with the Soviet Union. The terrorists hope to rekindle cold war animosity and prevent reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians. With one terrible act, distrust mounts, forces collide, and the floundering U.S. president seems unable to cope with the crisis. With the world on the verge of nuclear disaster, Ryan must frantically seek a solutionbefore the chiefs of state lose control of themselves and the world.

  1. This will be my third book by Tom Clancy. I am not very far along in the book but it slready has quite a bit of action in it. I also enjoyed the action in the last two books.

  2. Since my last post, I have got quite far in the book. I am still enjoying it, there now seems that the intervals between the action parts are getting longer. If you enjoy Tom Clancy’s style of writing and like action type stories, I would suggest this book and all the other books in the jack Ryan series.

  3. I a little less than a third of the way through the book now and I am still engaged. There have been a few times that I have thought about dropping the book because of long sections of text that did not seem to progress the story much, but once you get through those it is much more engaging.

  4. I have always liked the way Clancy puts together his stories, and the ways that the conflicts feel like they could really happen.

  5. Nuclear war has been a popular writing topic for many years, do you think this one lives up to others you've read? DO you think any of the plat is cliche or generic?

  6. Yes that is also one of the reasons that I enjoy the Tom Clancy books. They always seem to be based in reality instead of all fictional, which is sum times a good thing.

  7. I feel that it is a fairly original plot. Although I have not read many other books of this style other than Tom Clancy's.

  9. I enjoy the action scenes in the book along with the description that Tom Clancy uses. Some of the cons about the book are occasionally there are boring sections that do not give you much information.
