Before I say Good-Bye by Mary Higgins Clark

When Nell MacDermott learns that her husband, architect Adam Cauliff, and three of his business associates have died in an explosion on his new cabin cruiser, she is not only devastated but wracked with guilt. The last time she saw Adam, they had a bitter quarrel over her plan to run for the Congressional seat long help by her grandfather; she had told him not to come home.

As the investigation into the boat's explosion proceeds, Nell learns that it was not an accident but a bomb. Despite her skepticism, Nell is swayed by her great-aunt Gert, a believer of psychic powers, to see a medium claiming to be Adam's channel.

While trying to unravel the threads of Adam's past and his violent end, Nell consults the medium, who transmits messages to her with instructions from Adam. The story reaches a powerful climax in Nell's final encounter with the medium, in which she learns the truth about the explosion- truth she can't be allowed to live and tell.

  1. I always find books by this author to be interesting, but I usually only read her books when I don't have something better to read. This author has written multiple award winning mysteries. Her stories are usually murder mysteries and I have found all of her books good because they keep me hooked. I have read better stories by her then this one, but so far I'm just at the beginning.

  4. My favorite part about this book so far is the slight paranoia and suspence in the main characters point of view. I can't tell what she is going to do next because she's holding herself back from doing what she believes in.

  5. Jocelyn, great insights. I totally understand when you say you only read her books when you don't have something better to read. It's great to have authors like that, reliable storytellers you can fall back on, even if they might not be nobel laureate material.

  6. The suspence level is rising in the story right now as the main character is goving in to doing what her instincts are telling her to do.

  7. I find this book absolutely boring. I have to say this is the least favorite book I have read by this author. With Mary Higgens Clark, it's really hit or miss with her books. I have definetely read some thrilling books by her, but then I've read books like this one that were torturous to read due to boredom.
