Misty of Chinteogue

Nobody could capture the phantom. She was the wildest mare on Assateage Island. They said the was like the wind, that the white "map" on her shoulders was her mark of freedom.

Paul and Maureen Beebe had their hearts set on owning her. They were itching to buy and tame her, and worked hard to earn the money she would cost. But the roundup men had tried to capture her and for two years she has escaped them........

Pony Penning Day holds a surprise for everyone, for Paul not only brings in the phantom, but her newborn colt as well. Can Paul and Maureen possibly earn enough money to but them both?

    It is a very interesting book, it really sets the mood and pulls me in right away.

    The wording of this book is interesting. It makes Misty more mysterious which makes me wonder about her.

    I do not get the book is it a horse book or a mystery. All the posts you have made are vary confusing.

    The horse is a mystery, and yes there is a horse in it so yes it is about a horse named Misty. The two kids want to tame her but they say "that the map on her shoulders was her mark of freedom" on the back of the book. so it makes me wonder about her. I have not gotten very far in the book anyway.
