"How do I relate to this story? Why do I care? How has the author managed to keep me invested in the lives of people very distant from me?"
In other words, you do not know Will, Horace, or Evelyn. You do not know any wargals. Yet, you keep reading because, I assume, you want to know what is going to happen. I imagine you were excited when Horace escaped. What keeps you engaged?
