Kurt,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you included an example, so we know more clearly what you're talking about. Do you like all the details? What do you think this book would be like if it wasn't so detailed?
It may be too soon to tell, but how does this book compare with _My Side of the Mountain_?
I like the details they make it feel like your there. it would not be as good with out the details it would not be as descriptive. it is almost the same as my side of the Mountain exept he already knows how to do most of the outdoores survial stuff.
ReplyDeleteKurt,
ReplyDeleteI think I didn't finish _On the Far Side of the Mountain_ because it was too much like _My Side of the Mountain_. Once he had established his life and overcome all the difficulties, I lost interest. So why do you like it?
I like it because there are new difficulties for exanple: a forester comes and tacks his bird so he cant get meat
ReplyDeleteKurt,
ReplyDeleteIs that all? Is that the only problem he faces? Can't he just set some traps? I mean, it's not like his sister is missing or he's about to suffer a mental breakdown or something. Is it?
But it does sound like there is some new meat to the story. It's more than just a "what happened next" book. What do you think he's learning in this book? What is his new struggle or new progress?
the new struggle is him finding his sister he is doing that right now in the book and he is haveing trouble with his traps because the deer know what they look like so they avoid them and he did suffer a mental breakdown but he is fine now he is learning that he is not as skilled as he thought and needs to inprovdhis trapping skills
ReplyDeleteKurt,
ReplyDeleteI'd like you to step away from the details for a second and look at the big picture. A lot is going in the main character's life. Even though he survived the experiment of living on his own, he still has a lot to learn. Now that you're almost done with the book, think about how he changes over all. Does his character change through all these trials? Does he grow? Does he learn some new lesson about himself or about life? Or does he find his sister, perfect his traps, and continue being the same old person? Is he different from how he was in _My Side of the Mountain_? How so?
he will mostlikly do all of what you said
ReplyDeleteI have 13 pages left
ReplyDeleteKurt,
ReplyDeleteNow that you're close to the end, are you satisfied with the ending? What would you change if you could? What does this book make you want to do?
