Sky Rocket: The Story of a Little Bay Horse

A starved, beaten, terrified little horse, headed for the slaughter house, is temporarily left at the riding stables of a Junior Cavalry unit by his dealer-owner. Impressed by his indomitable spirit and his "look of eagles" Colonel Brewster, Commandant of the riding unit, turns the pitiable animal over to his fifteen-year-old son, Tom, to try to rehabilitate the abused animal. Surprisingly, teen-age Pamela, who is nervous and uncertain, too, takes a significant part in the crucial weeks of patient, understanding effort that follow in trying to make the little bay live up to his name, Sky Rocket.

  1. I really like how this book started at the start of his life. From the moment he was born. I like how the book is in third person but really focuses on just the little bay horse. It feels like it is in first person but It rally isn't. And I forgot to put down on the main post who wrote this book. This book is Sky Rocket: The story of a Little Bay Horse by Margaret Cabell Self.

  5. The book is really catching my eye. Although I think it is going by too fast. It is not going as in depth as I would like it to. It has been easy to follow but I still would like it better if it was in first person.

Kat~ I don't know if it is in third person omnixcient. I just know by the way the author uses He rather than I that it is third person.

  7. Gordon~ The book is in third person as the author uses He rather than I, as if he was talking about someone else. And now that I google it, the book is in third-person omniscient. Someone is narrating the book in their point of view. I prefer first person.

  8. This book is getting really good mid way through. Nothing tragic has happened but I can feel something leading up to that big moment. I don't wanna give out spoilers though

  9. I have been noticing that the book has been going really fast for me. I like this and I don't like it at the same time. Sometimes it feels as if it is just the right speed to get the point across and sometimes I think that it is going to fast that you get jumbled up in what is going on. Anyways, Sky Rocket continues to be a great book and draws me in every time I pick it up. I like where I think the book is going!
