RANGER'S APPRENTICE

I'm nearly have done with Ranger's apprentice book 7 I only have 80 more pages. Now I'm at a interesting part full of action and adventure. I think one of the best parts about the book is you can never know whats coming next.

  1. Alden,

You said that this book comes after the fourth book in the series. I wonder if any of the plot is predetermined because of the way the author is filling in a gap in the story. For example, even at the beginning of "Phantom Menace," everybody knew Annakin Skywalker would become Darth Vader, and that knowledge colored all of the action. Or in _The Magician's Nephew_, the piece of iron that becomes a lamppost has more significance if you've read _The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe_. Are there any connections that need to be made in the same way? How do you think knowing the background affects your experience reading this book? Would it be different if you read this one first?

  3. This is the answer to Josiahs comment. Yes I think that there is a connectoin between the the 4 book and the 7th book's plot because in the 4 book the caracter wasn't allowed to raid were he used to because of a treaty and he became a leader so he couldn't raid and he wanted to go on one last raid.

  4. Alden,

So this book is the last raid he can go on? Does it still fit in the whole series, or is it a rewriting of the story? For example, you said that one of the Gary Paulsen books imagined what would happen if Brian hadn't gotten rescued. Is this Ranger's Apprentice book an alternative branch of the plot or just filling in the gaps?
