This book interests me because it explains regular life in high detail. It also explains what its like for these people of Amity. They are feeling scared and uncomfortable. Also I like how it has a good amount of terror. Although it has not mentioned "Jaws" in a while. I'm on page 159 and finally the dinner party is over. Right now the Mr. Brody is heading to work. He has had a terrible day so far. This book I believe is about to get really interesting.

Hunter,
ReplyDeleteFrom our conversation this morning, it seemed like lots of detail was good when describing something interesting, but not so useful when describing something boring. So how does Benchley make you care about regular life? What's the point of writing about regular life? Here's a guess: maybe making "regular life" very real increases the terror because this is something that happens in our world. What do you think of that idea?
You said that the shark has not been mentioned in a while, and it reminds me of the movie and the classic music (buh-BUM, buh-BUM). The movie heightened suspense by suggesting that the shark was nearby, or filming from the shark's point of view, but not showing it. Did they borrow this device from the book?
In your last post, you mentioned one bad detail. What was it? Why was it bad?
