Has anyone else heard of the Redwall series by Brian Jacques? I enjoy the series. I have noticed that every book in the series I have read so far has at least two plotlines going on at once. I personally don’t have too much trouble following the multiple plotlines, but I can see that it might be confusing to other people. Often, a bunch of characters will go on a quest of some sort, while the others stay back at Redwall and something happens there. It alternates between the story of the characters who are away and the story of the characters who are at home. Then, in the resolution of the book, the plotlines meet up again when the questers return home.

ReplyDeletetj i would like to read them.
ReplyDeletehow are those books
ReplyDeleteWhat books do you speak of?
ReplyDeleteJoshua, I also read and enjoyed the Redwall series. Having read all but two of the books, I can fairly confidently agree with you in that Jacques consistently uses his writing devise of multiple plot lines that converge. One of the most interesting parts of his writing for me was that he portrayed both the protagonist(s) and the antagonist(s) almost equally. Did you also find that this devise writing made the book more engaging?

ReplyDeleteWhile I didn’t really think about that prior to reading your post, now that I think about it, I do enjoy reading about all the characters of the books and having their individual stories told. It gives me more information as to what’s going on, where everyone is coming from, and what their motives are.
What are they mostly about?
