Little red sheepie says.....

Hell0! I'm reading the Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald. The preface was waaayyy to long. I'm only a couple of pages into the story itself. I guess the preface was good. It would be a whole lot better if it wasn't there though.

  1. Why do you think the preface was put in? Was it written by the author or the current editor?

  2. I'm not sure why it was added. I haven't found it useful to the story currently.

It was written by the current editor.

  3. O.K. What purpose does the preface serve in this case? Try to take the story out of the dark ages into new light? Help folks that don't know about the time in which the story is set? How is the book coming along now?

  4. How could the preface be "good" if you don't see a purpose? Especially if you wish it wasn't there?
